Interview with Durban about KickOff (Added on 8th March '02)
** Welcome Durban one of the fans of KickOff. I don't think I have to introduce him many of you probably knew him better than I. Nice you made some time to have a chat with me.

** D: I'm more than happy to spend some time talking about Kick Off, it will be my pleasure.

** When did you ever heard of the original KickOff game?

** D: My first experience was of Kick Off 2 on the Atari St. I had never heard of the original I have to be honest, but from the first game I played
I was hooked. It took a while to become good at the game but it wassomething I spent most of my time at.

** Do you think it was the best soccer at that time?

** D: Was it the best soccer game? Without a doubt. Sensible was fun,but not as much fun. There were others around that I enjoyed playing, Emlyn Hughes International Soccer, Gary Lineker Superstar Soccer to name a few, but none had that extra something that made you want to play game after game.

** What thing wheren't good enough of that game?

** D: The only real drawback I had with KO2 was that there weren't enough options, I wanted more teams, I wanted to be able to customise teams. The gameplay itself wasn't lacking in anything, but more could have been done with extras.

** Are these things improved in KickOff 2002?

** D: Yes, Steve has come along, taken Kick Off 2 and kicked it into touch. The gameplay is still there, its not the same as KO2 but it retains that
special secret ingredient that makes you want to play again and again. What Steve has done is added the extras that were missing. The Graphics are nice,
but not important. He has added hundreds of teams and given you the ability to customise the whole game. Thats what KO2 was missing, customisation, and KO2002 has it in abundance.

** Alot of people are telling me that KickOff .. is extremly fun with 2 humans. Because of that did you play tournaments?

**D: I never really played in tournaments, but I had a lot of friends who used to meet up for friendly games. It comes into its own when you are playing against a human opponent, there is nothing else like it it can be electric. Thankfully Steve has managed to carry this across in transition toKo2002.

** With the release of KickOff 2002 the fan-community is growing with more members of the KO-Gathering and more fansites. You have got you own site http://homepage.ntlworld.com/durban/ko2002.html
What is your main aim with it?

**D: To be honest my site was just my way of contributing to the community. I had some webspace and I thought why not use it for the good of the KOA.
My main aim for the site is just to allow people to contribute to the KO2002 project, perhaps they don't have their own site so I can upload their files for the rest of the world to see. I am concentrating mainly on Team Files for now, currently I have the English Premiership, South African Premiership and a few other teams, but I also have a section for 'Dream' Teams where fans can send their favourite teams of all time. And another section is for 'made up' teams, thats just for fun, imagine a team made up of famous philosophers or people on TV (the idea came from Sensible Soccer, I have to give it at least some credit :)) I'm hoping through my site people will also link to my other sites, in the near future there will be a site hosting my own games (only amateur stuff) and again the good think with the KOA is that we are a strong group of people with differing opinions, so who else to give you advice and ideas for new games etc.

**Last question for now.... Being one of the newest fan-sites... What do you think of my website?

** D: I think its a nice idea, and I hope it does well. Its great to see new sites opening on the Kick Off Theme, it means that more and more people are realising the beauty of the game and giving something back.

** Thank you answering my interview! I wish you the best with your site and a lot of fun with the new KickOff game !

**D: Thanks for taking the time to listen...take care.

Interview with Danny Dinneen about SoccerGames (Added on 8th Marsh '02)

Welcome to Danny Dinneen who everyone know of the KO gathering forum! I would like to talk with you about todays SoccerGames. On the PC market there aren't much alternatives. You have got FifaSoccer for many years just ruling the world in my humble opinion. Now we have KickOff 2002 from Steve Screech and the fans of KickOff2. Ofcourse you must know the Fifa serie. I was a huge fan of Fifa but was looking for alternative! And I think I have got them!

**What about you wich game do you prefer looking at the 3 points, Gameplay, Graphics, Sound?

**Danny Dinneen: FifaSucks Dot com.I've played a few different versions of fifa on the pc and ps2 and I don't find it very entertaining. The graphics are nice but that's the only positive aspect of fifa for me.Ko2002 is just what the doctor prescribed.. gameplay in big doses.

**What I said before! EA's Fifa (now Fifa2002) is dominating the sales for PC SoccerGames. Do you think KickOff 2002 is a real competition to fifa or wil be in the future?

** Danny Dinneen:I assume you mean competition ("concurration").Fifa will continue to dominate.ko2002 will unfortunatly not come close. It's like Microsoft vs linux.People want bells and whistles and the easiest gui.ko2002 isn't a game that you can pickup and play like fifa, you have to train. That's the way things are.Of course I wish ko2002 would dominate the soccer market.

** I think there are a few lacks in the game like not having the option to play online and not having full match commentary. What do you think of this? Any other things you things that should have been in the game. ?

** Danny Dinneen:The most important issue here was to get ko2002 out of the door. This project only happened because the author cared and was himself interested in the project. Now that we finally have ko2002 we can seriously talk about online play once the dust has settled.I personally think a soccer game may be a bit to much for online gaming but we should investigate lan gaming over tcp/ip.I think a lan play patch is realistic, online gaming not.

** Do you think Steve Screech creator of KickOff 2002 did a good job?, Did he correct bugs, Did he made enough improvement?

** Danny Dinneen: Steve is the only developer I know of you listens to his beta testers like they care.Steve did an amazing job and I have every confidence that he will in the future.

** One of the big-positive thing of KickOff is that (I’’m told) the maker listen to the fans! Do you agree with that (if so could you give some examples)

** Danny Dinneen: I think the above answer answers this question. If an idea sounded good and some beta testers expessed interest Steve incorpotated this into the game.

** Last question. You have been here longer then I, playing KickOff2002 demo and KickOff2. Wich advise would you like to give for new players to enjoy most of the game? Danny Dinneen:Practice makes perfect.Even I :) find ko2002 difficult at the start.I intend to be the first ko2002 world champion :)

** Thank you for coming by! It's now time to play the game I think!

** Danny Dinneen:Thanks to the entire ko-gathering team who have made this possible.
